What is RutaVala Essential Oil?

RutaVala is an essential oil blend made with Ruta, Lavender and Valerian essential oils.  It is great for relaxing the mind and body and promoting sleep.*  Diffused an hour before bedtime RutaVala can help ease any tension or stress.*  What makes RutaVala more unique than the other oils used for sleep?  It is already formulated and blended for you!  Not only that, the refreshing scent is lovely!  Many people even use it topically in Young Living’s Roll-On for an added effect or just as an everyday perfume.

Lavender and Peace & Calming

This is my favorite blend to use for bedtime.  We sometimes diffuse both Lavender and Peace & Calming together or diffuse them individually as well.  In almost all of these blends, you will see Lavender essential oil.   In past blog posts, I have talked about Lavender being the “Swiss Army Knife” of essential oils, because you can literally use it for almost everything.   Its most common use is for relaxation and sleep.*  If you use “true” Lavender, such as Young Living’s Lavender Essential Oil, you will safely experience the real benefits of this oil.*  To learn more about 100% pure, therapeutic-grade essential oils, check out my page – Why Choose Young Living?

Peace & Calming is an essential oil blend made with Tangerine, Orange, Ylang Ylang and Patchouli.  Peace & Calming has been a favorite in my house since my daughter was born.  As you know, infants can wake up numerous times a night.  Once we started using Peace & Calming, our nights have been way more peaceful.*  This blend alone made us essential oil believers.

Lavender and Bergamot

We know Lavender is great for relaxing the mind and body, but why add Bergamot?  It is used for hormonal support and adds a sweet citrus scent to the diffuser blend.  Citrus oils can aid in relaxation as well,  but they are excellent for uplifting moods!*  This blend can help you go to sleep with a smile on your face.  😉

Frankincense and Vetiver

This blend is a personal favorite of mine.  I use Frankincense daily in my diffuser necklace.  Check out my blog post – Essential Oil Diffuser Necklace.  Frankincense helps me with everyday stress and tension.*  It can be used for so many other things, but for me, this is one of my favorites for that reason.  I also love the stimulating aroma!

Many people use Vetiver aromatically and topically.  According to Dr. Terry Friedmann, “this oil is one of the highest in sesquiterpenes and can be used to improve children’s behavior.”*  “It is psychologically grounding, calming and stabilizing.”*  On a side note, this oil is VERY thick, so do not be alarmed if you have never used it before.  Sometimes adding a glass dropper to the bottle can make it easier for application.

So why these two together?  It is just another option when I feel like changing things up.  Like I said, I use Frankincense daily already, so as I sleep it is an added bonus.  These oils work well together and have a fantastic aroma when combined.

Lavender, Cedarwood, Peace & Calming

Sometimes we add Cedarwood to the diffuser blend of Lavender and Peace & Calming.  Why Cedarwood?  It can add a different aroma to the mix.  It has an outdoor, woodsy aroma.  It is also known for its soothing and calming abilities when massaged topically with a carrier oil to the skin.*  If it relaxes the body when used topically, it more than likely will relax the body when used aromatically.*  Like I said, it’s all about experimentation with different combinations.

Lavender, Roman Chamomile and Vetiver

We now know Lavender and Vetiver are used for calming the mind and body and aiding in sleep.*  Why add Roman Chamomile?  Because, this is one of the most gentle of the essential oils and it is great for small children along with the oils, Lavender and Vetiver.  This is a combination we would diffuse in our kids room for a restful nights sleep.*

Lavender, Vetiver, Valerian and Orange

Valerian is an essential oil in the RutaVala blend.  According to Young Living, “Valerian has been clinically investigated for its relaxing properties.  Researchers have pinpointed the sesquiterpenes, valerenic acid and valerone as the active constitutes that exert a calming and restorative effect on the central nervous system.”*

Orange is one of my favorite citrus oils.  It is also a relaxant, but its citrus aroma also can uplift spirits and moods.*  It can help the mind feel at peace and bring about a sense of happiness.*  It is in the Peace & Calming blend as well.  More importantly, it contains the powerful antioxidant d-limonene, which can assist in maintaining a healthy immune system.*

Lavender, Bergamot, Patchouli and Ylang Ylang

This combination is very similar to the Lavender and Peace & Calming diffuser blend, but with the added benefit of Bergamot.  Patchouli and Ylang Ylang are a few of the oils in Peace & Calming.  Bergamot gives this blend the citrus kick for uplifting moods, but also the extra relaxation properties for a better nights rest.

I realize many of these diffuser blends are similar, but sometimes the slight change in a recipe can make a difference in how you feel.  Keep trying until you find something that works for you!
