Yoga Mat Spray

What you need –

  • 1 2 oz. spray bottle – I always suggest using dark glass bottles.  Plastic bottles can sometimes leach chemicals, especially if you’re using citrus oils.  Also, dark bottles are preferred, because they help protect the essential oil.
  • 1 funnel – I only had a plastic one to use for this recipe, but I only used it for adding the distilled water.
  • Witch Hazel
  • Melaleuca Alternifolia also known as Tea Tree essential oil
  • Lavender essential oil
  • 1 Small towel

Why Melaleuca (Tea Tree) oil?

Melaleuca Alternifolia (Tea Tree) oil is a very powerful essential oil known for promoting cleansing and purity.*  It can be found in many of Young Living’s beauty products, because of its refreshing properties.*  It is a very gentle oil, even for sensitive skin.

Why Lavender oil?

Lavender oil has a sweet floral aroma which makes it a wonderful addition to many cleaning recipes.  Lavender being one of the most versatile and gentle of the essential oils can also be used for cleaning and purifying.*

How to Make Yoga Mat Spray

  1. Using a glass spray bottle and funnel, fill the spray bottle 3/4 of the way with distilled water
  2. Fill the remaining bottle with Witch Hazel leaving a little room
  3. Add 15 drops of Melaleuca (Tea Tree) oil to the spray bottle very carefully or with a glass dropper
  4. Add 10 drops of Lavender oil to the spray bottle very carefully or with a glass dropper
  5. Attach the sprayer back onto the bottle and shake well and gently
  6. Spray yoga mat thoroughly
  7. Wipe down with a small towel
  8. Enjoy your clean yoga mat and its lovely aroma!

Spring Cleaning with Essential Oils!

Spring is less than 6 weeks away!  Do you believe it?!  I am ready!  I can’t wait to rid our home of all things winter – pack the warm clothes and snow boots away, clean all traces of snow, ice and salt from windows, floors, walls, furniture and most importantly, disinfect and freshen up from all the winter blah!  Spring cleaning will be so much easier, affordable and SAFER this year since we started using Young Living Essential Oils and more specifically, Thieves Household Cleaner!

What is Thieves Household Cleaner?

If you are looking to detoxify your home of chemical cleaners, Thieves Household Cleaner is for you!  What is so great about it?  It is an ALL-NATURAL, ALL-PURPOSE and very AFFORDABLE cleaner.  We literally use it for everything!   It is made with renewable plant and mineral sources, vegetable-based surfactants AND contains Thieves and Lemon essential oils.

Thieves Household cleaner comes in 2 sizes.  The largest size is 64 oz. and as a Wholesale Member, you would pay $85.25.  This sounds like a lot, but it is NOT and here is why – the 64 oz. bottle makes 128, 30 oz. bottles.  This means each 30 oz. bottle is .67 cents!  I don’t think there is a household cleaner on the market that cheap!  The smaller bottle is 14.4 fl oz. and as a Wholesale Member it is $22.00.  This makes 29, 30 oz. bottles at $1.32 each.  Talk about a steal!  Obviously, it’s a much larger investment to buy the 64 oz. bottle, so if you are new to Young Living, the 14.4 fl oz. bottle is a good place to start!

Check out some of the dilution ratios that Young Living recommends that we’ve used:

  • Light degreasing 60:1
  • Medium degreasing 30:1
  • Heavy degreasing 15:1
  • Floors 100:1
  • Walls 30:1
  • Upholstery, fabrics and carpet spotting 40:1
  • Carpet 100:1
  • Glass 320:1
  • Pots and pans 100:1
  • Hand cleaner 1:1

If you don’t own Thieves Household Cleaner you can use many essential oils for all of your cleaning needs!  Here are some of our favorites – Thieves, Lemon, Purification, Lavender and Melaleuca to just name a few.  All of these oils are included in the Premium Starter Kit.  See my order oils page for more information.

Cleaning Solution Recipes

Check out some of my family’s favorite recipes for cleaning our home.  All are made with Thieves Household cleaner and/or Young Living Essential Oils.  As with anything new, please be sure to spot test before cleaning your upholstery, fabric or carpet.
