My December Young Living Order and FREEBIES!

Look at this haul!!!  This is everything from my December Young Living order and some added FREEBIES!  I buy products monthly on Young Living’s optional Essential Rewards program and this may be my biggest order to date!  This was the BEST month to order BIG because of the monthly promotion!  You don’t need to be an Essential Rewards member to take part in Young Living’s monthly promotions, but it has some added benefits.  This month I needed to stock up on a few necessities, try some new items and buy a few as gifts.  Check it out below!

Dec ER '15

What did I buy?

Essence of the Season

This essential oil collection has been on my wish list since the day I started using oils. There is no better time to purchase it then right before Christmas!  I’m excited to make Essence of the Season part of our Christmastime tradition!

The festive box (pictured above) contains both Frankincense and Myrrh essential oils AND resins and Christmas Spirit essential oil blend.

Christmas Spirit

We love to diffuse Christmas Spirit all year around!  It is an energizing and purifying blend of Orange, Cinnamon and Spruce essential oils.*

Shutran

I snuck Shutran into my husband’s Christmas stocking because it is his new favorite cologne (ok, maybe mine too).  This essential oil blend of Idaho Blue Spruce, Ocotea, Ylang Ylang, Hinoki, Coriander, Davana, Lavender, Cedarwood, Lemon and Northern Lights Black Spruce is made specifically for men to promote feelings of confidence and masculinity.*

Thieves

If you are familiar with Young Living and their unique essential oil blend, Thieves, then you know this is the oil to have on hand at all times.  If you are not familiar with Thieves, this is the first oil you should consider!  We use this daily for supporting a healthy immune and respiratory system.*

Lavender

Lavender is a necessity to stock up on!  I bought one this month and one was FREE with December’s monthly promotion.  I like to think of it as BOGO.  😉

Many people are familiar with Lavender, but do you know about Young Living’s Lavender?  Have you smelled true pure Lavender essential oil?  HEAVENLY!  We use this for so many things that it needs a few blogs of its own.  Some common uses for Lavender are calming the skin, relaxing the mind and body and as a fresh aroma to add to any room!*  Check out my post – DIY Lavender Linen Spray.

Lemon

Do you like flavored water or tea?  If so, add a drop of Young Living’s Lemon to your drink!  Lemon supports the circulatory system, energizes and cleanses the body.*  We like the benefits of this oil, but we also like the scent!*  Check out my post – Homemade Air Freshener with Essential Oils and substitute Lavender for Lemon for a citrusy clean aroma!

Deep Relief

I purchased this for a friend, but we make sure we don’t run out of this one either!  I keep one in my purse and my husband has one in his “oil bag.”  It is a convenient roll-on bottle of Peppermint, Wintergreen, Dorado Azul, Helichrysum essential oils.  We primarily use it on our temples, neck and back after a long day.*  It is cooling, refreshing and invigorating.*

Lip Balm Gift Set

So far I am a huge fan of the Young Living lip balms.  My 2 favorites are Lavender and Cinnamint.  Both of those as well as Grapefruit and the season-exclusive Vanillamint are included in the set.  I have the whole family using them now!  I love that we have found an all-natural lip balm that we can trust!

What did I get free?

Everyday Oils Collection

Yep, you read that correctly!  By meeting the PV requirements for December’s promotion, I received the whole Everyday Oil Collection for FREE.  This collection includes 10 essential oils – Frankincense, Thieves, Lavender, Lemon, Peppermint, Tea Tree, PanAway, Joy, Purification and Stress Away.  These are the oils in the Premium Starter Kit.

Black Pepper

I didn’t own Black Pepper essential oil until I received it FREE in the promotion.  I am intrigued by the uses for it, but I haven’t figured out how I will personally use it yet. However, it is nice to have just in case!  According to Young Living’s website, it supports the digestive system and is great for muscles after exercise.*  I had no idea!

Lavender

As I stated above, I bought one bottle of Lavender this month and received one for FREE!  Woohoo!

L Briante Lip Gloss

YES!  I was so excited to receive this FREE because it’s been on my wish list since the Young Living convention in August 2015.  One of my favorite parts of the convention was trying out all the products!  I LOVED this one!  Did you know Young Living had lip gloss?!  This particular one is L Briante Lip Gloss Neutral/Winter Scent.  One end is a perfect neutral lip gloss and the other end is a beautiful essential oil blend of Vetiver, Sandalwood and Ylang Ylang for on-the-go beauty!

Thanks for checking out my December 2015 order and all of my FREEBIES!  Feel free to comment or contact me with questions!  I would love to hear from you!

Happy Oiling!

Amy

Back to School Essentials with Young Living

One of the best things you can do before the start of the new school year is to invest in the Young Living Premium Starter Kit.  I wish my family had essential oils when my kids were babies, but I am SO glad that we have them when they begin school.  Besides the typical back to school essentials, don’t forget your Young Living Essential Oils!

Check out my April Essential Rewards – FREE FOR APRIL '15

Cardamom

Cardamom essential oil is a new one I am adding to our collection.  It is known for protecting and supporting the stomach and digestive system.*  It also can alleviate occasional fatigue and nervousness.*

Hope

Hope is another new essential oil for my family.  I love the oils in this blend.  It has a base of Almond oil, Melissa, Myrrh, Juniper and Spruce.  These oils combined create feelings of strength, joy, positivity, grounding and most importantly, “hope.”

Lemon

We are stocking up on Lemon essential oil!  We use this in our, “DIY Spring Essential Oil Roll-On,” along with Lavender and Peppermint essential oils.

Patchouli

Patchouli can be found in some of our favorites, such as, Peace & Calming and DiGize essential oil blends and in the Animal Scents Ointment.

Young Living states, Patchouli is sometimes called, “the scent of the sixties,” because of its musky, earthy and exotic aroma.  Its aroma may not appeal to some, but the oil has many benefits many people do not know about.  One benefit is it can soothe dry skin and reduce the appearance of wrinkles.*  It is also known to support the digestive system and ease nausea.*  See how you can use Patchouli in a diffuser blend for sleep on my post, “8 BEST Diffuser Blends for Sleep!

Thyme

Thyme is one of the most powerful antioxidants known.*  It supports the immune, respiratory, digestive, nervous and other body systems.*

Thieves Household Cleaner

I ordered the biggest bottle available this month!  We are still trying to rid our house of winter and we are freshening things up for spring and summer.  Thieves Household Cleaner is an ALL-PURPOSE cleaner that is ALL-NATURAL, SAFE, HIGHLY EFFECTIVE and VERY AFFORDABLE. To see how we use Thieves Household Cleaner, check out my post, “Spring Cleaning with Essential Oils!.”

Cinnamint and Lavender Lip Balms

I absolutely LOVE the Young Living Lip Balms.  I am not sure which one is my favorite, because they are all equally wonderful.  If you are looking for an ALL-NATURAL alternative for soothing chapped lips, I would definitely recommend these.*

Lavender

Lavender was a FREEBIE this month for the, “April 2015 Young Living Promotion.”  You can ALWAYS use a bottle of Lavender!  Some of our favorite uses for this versatile oil are in a bath with Epsom Salts for relaxation and for easing tense muscles, in the diffuser for sleep, to soothe skin and in our, “DIY Spring Essential Oil Roll-On.”*

Wintergreen

Wintergreen was another FREEBIE this month for the, “April 2015 Young Living Promotion.”  We have been wanting to try Wintergreen on its own for awhile now and this was a perfect opportunity.  Wintergreen is in PanAway, one of our favorite essential oil blends.  PanAway is in the Everyday Oil Collection in the Premium Starter Kit, because it is something you could literally use everyday.  It is the perfect oil for stressed muscles, joints and ligaments.*  When it is massaged on the location of need with a carrier oil, the soothing benefits of this oil are amazing.*  The Wintergreen combined with Peppermint essential oil are what make the cooling sensation.

Thieves Spray

A 3-pack of Thieves Spray was also a FREEBIE this month for, “April 2015 Young Living Promotion.”  These are great to take on-the-go, especially when traveling.  This spray contains pure grain alcohol, deionized water, Thieves essential oil blend, fractionated coconut oil and soy lecithin.  You can quickly clean just about everything with these little handy bottles!  They are perfect for shopping carts, toilet seats, door handles and more!

Peace & Calming and Valor

I purchased Peace & Calming and Valor this month with my accrued Essential Rewards points.  We were notified these oils were going to be out-of-stock temporarily, so I wanted to stock up!  These 2 oils are some of Young Living’s “top-selling” oils.  Due to weather conditions, the botanicals needed to make these essential oils were not up to Young Living’s high quality standard.  This is one great reason why I love Young Living.  They want to provide only the BEST, so we will wait patiently for a better harvest this year!  If you missed out on grabbing these before they went out-of-stock, there are other great alternatives!  An alternative for Peace & Calming is Gathering essential oil blend and alternatives for Valor are Magnify Your Purpose, Envision and Inspiration essential oil blends.

Copaiba

Copaiba I also added on to my Essential Rewards points order.  Copaiba is best known for supporting the body’s natural response to injury or irritation.*  It can also help support the digestive system.*

This sums up my April Essential Rewards order!  It was a BIG one this month!  If you have any questions or are interested in learning more about Young Living Essential Oils, send me a message by clicking on, contact me.

Thank you!

Amy

My March Essential Rewards!

Check out what my family ordered from Young Living this month for our March Essential Rewards.  Click on Essential Rewards (ER) to learn more about this program. March ER

What is Aroma Siez Essential Oil?

It is an essential oil blend made with Basil, Marjoram, Lavender, Peppermint and Cypress.  This is an oil only used topically.  It can be massaged with a carrier oil right on an area of need.  It is typically used for tired muscles and ligaments after exercise, but can also be used on everyday aches from the body being exhausted or tense from occasional stressors.*  Aroma Siez can help by promoting normal body circulation.*

How do we use Aroma Siez?

A few weeks ago, my young son woke up with a stiff neck and shoulder.  The first oil I remembered to use was Aroma Siez massaged with a carrier oil.  As you may know, we use Young Living’s V-6 Enhanced Vegetable Complex for our carrier oil.  It massages into the skin leaving it smooth without a greasy residue.  Aroma Siez along with V-6 will be the first thing we grab next time any one of us wake up with a stiff neck!

What is Frankincense Essential Oil?

If you’ve heard anything about essential oils, you are more than likely familiar with Frankincense.  Frankincense can be used for MANY things.  It is most commonly used for skin support and relaxing the mind and body.*

How do we use Frankincense?

If you’ve been following my blog, you know how much I love my diffuser necklace!  Check out my blog post – Essential Oil Diffuser Necklace.  So far, my favorite oil to wear is Frankincense.  I love its sweet and warm scent, but most of all, I love its calming and relaxing properties.*

What is Lemon Essential Oil?

It is a powerful antioxidant containing 68% dlimonene for supporting a healthy immune system.*  It also can be used for supporting digestion, everyday stress, weight management and skin.*

I did purchase Lemon essential oil sample packets this month too.  These are great to carry on-the-go, because they very easily slip into a purse or even wallet.  I sometimes even carry the samples to share with others too.

What is Peppermint Essential Oil?

Peppermint is known for its minty aroma, but can potentially have many health benefits for the body as well!*  It is most commonly used for supporting a healthy digestive system.*

What is Animal Scents Ointment?

It is an ointment that contains Sesame, Palmarosa, Wheat, Carrot Seed, Geranium, Patchouli, Coriander, Idaho Balsam Fir, Myrrh, Melaleuca alternifoila, Rose Hip, Ylang Ylang and more!  It is a powerful soothing ointment used to protect an animal’s minor skin irritations.*  The ingredients are very gentle and safe.  If you are looking for a chemical-free, all-natural option, this would be a great choice!

How do we use Animal Scents Ointment?

Well, we do have pets, BUT I have heard so many great things about using this ointment on dry cracked feet.  I have to get these feet ready for spring and summertime!  This is my first time ordering it and I am really looking forward to trying it out!  I will keep you posted!

Everything I ordered this month, except the ointment is in the Premium Starter Kit.  They call the oils in the kit, “Everyday Oils,” because literally, you can use them every day.  Everything I just mentioned here is just the tip of the iceberg.  The uses and benefits for these oils are never-ending.  We have been very satisfied with the results of incorporating these oils into our daily lives.

If you want more information on the Premium Starter Kit and why I encourage it, check out my order oils page.  Also, click on Essential Rewards if you are interested in learning about Young Living’s Essential Rewards program.  It is an OPTIONAL auto-ship program, but with many extra added bonuses!  Check it out!

If you have any questions, feel free to contact me at any time.

Thank you,

Amy

DIY Spring Essential Oil Roll-On

Are you ready for Spring-

We are ready and preparing with our DIY Spring Essential Oil Roll-On.  I personally love this combination of oils, because of the support they can provide the sinuses and respiratory system.  This could benefit MANY people during the springtime!  But, even though this is a very common recipe, it’s important to remember what works for one may not work for another.  What is so great about essential oils is, you can tweak recipes to make them your “own,” or just find something completely different that works for you!  I definitely recommend investing in a helpful oil book if you are already using oils.  A book where you can look-up just about anything and it will give you detailed suggestions for oil use.  If you are not yet a Young Living member, I do give a FREE gift to all new enrollees ordering the Premium Starter Kit.  Please see my order oils page for more information.

Spring Essential Oil Roll-On Recipe –

springtime sinus support

Steps 1-3

Start with a dark glass bottle either one recycled from another oil or one you have purchased.  Check out my blog post Reusing Essential Oil Bottles to see how I clean and reuse my bottles.  If you are looking to purchase new bottles, Abundant Health has a large variety to choose from.

Once you have your bottle, add 30 drops of Lavender, 30 drops of Peppermint and 30 drops of Lemon Young Living Essential Oils (all are including in the Premium Starter Kit).  You can just line up the oil hole with the bottle or use a glass dropper to be more precise.

lavender drops Peppermint Drops Lemon drops

Step 4

After you’ve added all 3 essential oils, top off the rest of the bottle with a “carrier oil” or “seed oil” of your choice.  My family uses Young Living’s V-6 Vegetable Oil Complex.  This is made with Coconut, Sesame, Grape, Sweet Almond, Wheat, Sunflower and Olive oils.  It blends into the skin really well without leaving an oily residue and won’t clog pores.  It also won’t stain clothes or fabrics, which is a huge PLUS!  If you do not have V-6, you can use another seed oil such as, Coconut, Sesame, Jojoba, Almond, etc.

V-6 TOP OFF

Step 6

Lastly, after the essential oils and V-6 or other carrier oil is added, then put your roller fitment onto the bottle with the cap.  I prefer using Young Living’s AromaGlide Roller Fitments, because they are made of metal.  Many roller-balls are made of plastic, which is not safe to use with citrus oils, because they can actually erode the plastic.  Once the roller and cap is on, you can shake the bottle lightly or roll it between your hands to mix the oils up throughly.  After you are done, add a label!

ROLL-ON

Ready to use!

We use this roll-on on the back of our necks, wrists or on our Vita-Flex points on the bottom of our feet.  We love the convenience of this bottle too.  It can very easily fit in a purse, bag or even pocket!

Other Options for Spring Sinus and Respiratory Support

Essential Oils – Breathe Again, Copaiba, Eucalyptus, Fennel, Frankincense, Raven, Ravintsara, R.C., Roman Chamomile, Sacred Frankincense, Thieves and more!

  • Diffuse your choice of oils by following the directions on the bottle label

Thieves Tea for Immune System Support

If you really want to provide fast and effective immune support, here is a recipe to try!*  This is probably not something to drink everyday, only on those days you want extra support for your immune system.* There are different variations to this recipe, but below you will see the most common one used. You can alter it as much as you want as long as Thieves and Lemon essential oils are included (this is where you get the best support).  Some like to add other essential oils, such as Peppermint.  Others even like to add this combination to their favorite herbal tea blend too.  The options are really endless!  Make it your own for the best taste!

Why Thieves and Lemon?

Thieves, as you will see in many of my posts, is the essential oil to have at all times – especially during the fall and winter months.  It is a special blend created by Young Living.  It is made with Clove, Lemon, Cinnamon, Eucalyptus Radiata and Rosemary 100% pure, therapeutic-grade essential oils.  You can find Thieves in many of Young Living’s products.  It is a great safe and natural alternative for many store bought items.  Check out my new post, “Spring Cleaning with Essential Oils,” to see how we clean our house with Thieves!

Lemon is a great addition to the Thieves Tea not only for taste, but because Lemon contains D-Limonene a powerful antioxidant.*  Check out my post, “Young Living Lemon Essential Oil,” to learn more about this amazing oil!

Thieves and Lemon are both included in the Premium Starter Kit.  They are must-have oils that can be used everyday.  Check out my order oils page for more information.  If you have any questions, feel free to contact me at any time!

Thank you!

Spring Cleaning with Essential Oils!

Spring is less than 6 weeks away!  Do you believe it?!  I am ready!  I can’t wait to rid our home of all things winter – pack the warm clothes and snow boots away, clean all traces of snow, ice and salt from windows, floors, walls, furniture and most importantly, disinfect and freshen up from all the winter blah!  Spring cleaning will be so much easier, affordable and SAFER this year since we started using Young Living Essential Oils and more specifically, Thieves Household Cleaner!

What is Thieves Household Cleaner?

If you are looking to detoxify your home of chemical cleaners, Thieves Household Cleaner is for you!  What is so great about it?  It is an ALL-NATURAL, ALL-PURPOSE and very AFFORDABLE cleaner.  We literally use it for everything!   It is made with renewable plant and mineral sources, vegetable-based surfactants AND contains Thieves and Lemon essential oils.

Thieves Household cleaner comes in 2 sizes.  The largest size is 64 oz. and as a Wholesale Member, you would pay $85.25.  This sounds like a lot, but it is NOT and here is why – the 64 oz. bottle makes 128, 30 oz. bottles.  This means each 30 oz. bottle is .67 cents!  I don’t think there is a household cleaner on the market that cheap!  The smaller bottle is 14.4 fl oz. and as a Wholesale Member it is $22.00.  This makes 29, 30 oz. bottles at $1.32 each.  Talk about a steal!  Obviously, it’s a much larger investment to buy the 64 oz. bottle, so if you are new to Young Living, the 14.4 fl oz. bottle is a good place to start!

Check out some of the dilution ratios that Young Living recommends that we’ve used:

  • Light degreasing 60:1
  • Medium degreasing 30:1
  • Heavy degreasing 15:1
  • Floors 100:1
  • Walls 30:1
  • Upholstery, fabrics and carpet spotting 40:1
  • Carpet 100:1
  • Glass 320:1
  • Pots and pans 100:1
  • Hand cleaner 1:1

If you don’t own Thieves Household Cleaner you can use many essential oils for all of your cleaning needs!  Here are some of our favorites – Thieves, Lemon, Purification, Lavender and Melaleuca to just name a few.  All of these oils are included in the Premium Starter Kit.  See my order oils page for more information.

Reusing Essential Oil Bottles

Are you starting to become oil savvy and have a collection of empty essential oil bottles?  DO NOT THROW THEM IN THE GARBAGE!  YOU CAN RESUSE THEM!  Follow the steps below to see how I prepare the bottles to be reused!

Step

The first step is to gather up all of your empty essential oil bottles.  You can do them all at once or just pick a few to do together.  I decided to use our empty Thieves bottles and the one empty Peppermint bottle I had.  You can see Thieves is a favorite in my household and we have been using it a lot this season!

Step

The second step is to carefully remove all labels.  On the back of each Young Living bottle label there is a “peel here” printed small.  If you start to pull from there, sometimes it will come off nice and easily.  If you still have residue, no worries!  I will show you a few great tricks in step six and eight.  For now, just leave them be.

Step

The third step is to open the bottles by removing the lid and drop reducer.  Once the drop reducer is off, you may be able to get a little more oil from the bottle.  What do you do do with it?  Well, there are many options, but I will tell you my favorite way to use up each and every last drop!  I make relaxing and refreshing epsom bath salts!

Start with a large glass jar or container.  I say glass, because some of the citrus oils can erode plastic.  Then fill the jar about 1/3 or 1/2 of the way with epsom salt.  Then split up the bottles in 2 groups.  I take one group of open bottles and dump the remnants into the jar of bath salts.  Once all the oil is out, toss the bottles, lids and drop reducers in the jar too.  The epsom salts will absorb any remaining oil.

Step

The fourth step is to add more epsom salts.  Fill the jar, but leave room at the top to do the next grouping of bottles.  Then take a second group of bottles and dump their remnants and toss in the bottles, lids and drop reducers.

Step

Put the lid on the jar and tighten it.  Then begin shaking it very delicately and make sure everything is moving around well.  It’s very important to do this lightly, because the essential oil bottles and jar are glass.  Shaking it around helps to disperse the remaining oil more evenly throughout the epsom salts.  After that just let it sit for an hour or more.

Step

Now onto the sixth step – we are getting there!  Carefully dump the jar into a glass bowl, so you can sift through to get out all of the bottle pieces.  As I take out everything, I try to get as many salts as possible out and off of the bottles.  Then place the bottles and pieces in a separate bowl filled with water and a half capful of Thieves Household Cleaner.  The salt helped to absorb the remaining oil and the water with Thieves cleaner will help to clean the bottles for reuse.  If you are doing this at home and do not have Thieves Household Cleaner, another option would be vinegar and water.  I let everything sit for about 20 minutes.

For step seven, it is time to get the salts back into the jar.  You could very easily use a funnel for this.  I only had a plastic funnel and I just preferred to use a makeshift one instead to be sure no harmful chemicals leached from the plastic.  Remember, as I stated in step three, some citrus oils can erode plastic.  So, I erred on the side of caution and did it this way.  If you have a better option, by all means, go for it!

After everything has been sitting in the bowl with water and Thieves cleaner for awhile, I then pick up the pieces and gently rub away any label residue.  I did not have to do step eight, because the Thieves cleaner worked well at getting all of the leftover residue off.  If you are doing this and still have residue, Lemon essential oil works great!  I use this oil all the time for any stubborn gunk that won’t budge!  It is amazing!

Step

For step nine, I dry off all the pieces.  I sometimes leave them overnight upside down on a dish drying rack.

Now that the bottles are all emptied and freshly cleaned, I can decide what to do with them.  In step ten, I show how you can take an old bottle and exchange the lid for a roller-ball and cap.  Young Living makes their own, which fit the bottles perfectly.  They are called AromaGlide Roller Fitments.  I mainly use roller bottles for pre-diluted oils or to create my own oil blends.

Step

For step eleven, I completed putting all the clean bottles back together.  Now, here are some of my favorite ways to reuse them –

  1. Mix up a sleepy-time blend of Lavender, Peace & Calming and Cedarwood essential oils with V-6 and a roller fitment
  2. For those everyday aches, we use Pan-Away and Valor essential oils with V-6 and a roller fitment
  3. Create bottles specifically for the kids, pre-diluted and ready to use
  4. Make bottle samples as gifts for family and friends

Step

Step twelve is pretty simple, but fun!  It is an optional step, but if you like getting creative, now is your chance!  I love labeling my jars, containers and essential oil bottles.  I didn’t go too crazy with this one pictured, just because the jar is decoration enough and there wasn’t much space for a label.  Sometimes it’s fun to use ribbon or twine, especially for a gift.

I hope you found this post helpful! Contact me if you have any questions!  I would love to hear from you!

Thank you,

Amy

Lavender as seen above is commonly used for relaxation and occasional sleeplessness.

Peace & Calming is an essential oil blend made up of Tangerine, Orange, Ylang Ylang, Patchouli and Blue Tansy.  Just as the name states, it is commonly known to help bring peace and calm to the mind and body.  It is perfect to diffuse after a long day to help you wind down.
