My December Young Living Order and FREEBIES!

Look at this haul!!!  This is everything from my December Young Living order and some added FREEBIES!  I buy products monthly on Young Living’s optional Essential Rewards program and this may be my biggest order to date!  This was the BEST month to order BIG because of the monthly promotion!  You don’t need to be an Essential Rewards member to take part in Young Living’s monthly promotions, but it has some added benefits.  This month I needed to stock up on a few necessities, try some new items and buy a few as gifts.  Check it out below!

Dec ER '15

What did I buy?

Essence of the Season

This essential oil collection has been on my wish list since the day I started using oils. There is no better time to purchase it then right before Christmas!  I’m excited to make Essence of the Season part of our Christmastime tradition!

The festive box (pictured above) contains both Frankincense and Myrrh essential oils AND resins and Christmas Spirit essential oil blend.

Christmas Spirit

We love to diffuse Christmas Spirit all year around!  It is an energizing and purifying blend of Orange, Cinnamon and Spruce essential oils.*

Shutran

I snuck Shutran into my husband’s Christmas stocking because it is his new favorite cologne (ok, maybe mine too).  This essential oil blend of Idaho Blue Spruce, Ocotea, Ylang Ylang, Hinoki, Coriander, Davana, Lavender, Cedarwood, Lemon and Northern Lights Black Spruce is made specifically for men to promote feelings of confidence and masculinity.*

Thieves

If you are familiar with Young Living and their unique essential oil blend, Thieves, then you know this is the oil to have on hand at all times.  If you are not familiar with Thieves, this is the first oil you should consider!  We use this daily for supporting a healthy immune and respiratory system.*

Lavender

Lavender is a necessity to stock up on!  I bought one this month and one was FREE with December’s monthly promotion.  I like to think of it as BOGO.  😉

Many people are familiar with Lavender, but do you know about Young Living’s Lavender?  Have you smelled true pure Lavender essential oil?  HEAVENLY!  We use this for so many things that it needs a few blogs of its own.  Some common uses for Lavender are calming the skin, relaxing the mind and body and as a fresh aroma to add to any room!*  Check out my post – DIY Lavender Linen Spray.

Lemon

Do you like flavored water or tea?  If so, add a drop of Young Living’s Lemon to your drink!  Lemon supports the circulatory system, energizes and cleanses the body.*  We like the benefits of this oil, but we also like the scent!*  Check out my post – Homemade Air Freshener with Essential Oils and substitute Lavender for Lemon for a citrusy clean aroma!

Deep Relief

I purchased this for a friend, but we make sure we don’t run out of this one either!  I keep one in my purse and my husband has one in his “oil bag.”  It is a convenient roll-on bottle of Peppermint, Wintergreen, Dorado Azul, Helichrysum essential oils.  We primarily use it on our temples, neck and back after a long day.*  It is cooling, refreshing and invigorating.*

Lip Balm Gift Set

So far I am a huge fan of the Young Living lip balms.  My 2 favorites are Lavender and Cinnamint.  Both of those as well as Grapefruit and the season-exclusive Vanillamint are included in the set.  I have the whole family using them now!  I love that we have found an all-natural lip balm that we can trust!

What did I get free?

Everyday Oils Collection

Yep, you read that correctly!  By meeting the PV requirements for December’s promotion, I received the whole Everyday Oil Collection for FREE.  This collection includes 10 essential oils – Frankincense, Thieves, Lavender, Lemon, Peppermint, Tea Tree, PanAway, Joy, Purification and Stress Away.  These are the oils in the Premium Starter Kit.

Black Pepper

I didn’t own Black Pepper essential oil until I received it FREE in the promotion.  I am intrigued by the uses for it, but I haven’t figured out how I will personally use it yet. However, it is nice to have just in case!  According to Young Living’s website, it supports the digestive system and is great for muscles after exercise.*  I had no idea!

Lavender

As I stated above, I bought one bottle of Lavender this month and received one for FREE!  Woohoo!

L Briante Lip Gloss

YES!  I was so excited to receive this FREE because it’s been on my wish list since the Young Living convention in August 2015.  One of my favorite parts of the convention was trying out all the products!  I LOVED this one!  Did you know Young Living had lip gloss?!  This particular one is L Briante Lip Gloss Neutral/Winter Scent.  One end is a perfect neutral lip gloss and the other end is a beautiful essential oil blend of Vetiver, Sandalwood and Ylang Ylang for on-the-go beauty!

Thanks for checking out my December 2015 order and all of my FREEBIES!  Feel free to comment or contact me with questions!  I would love to hear from you!

Happy Oiling!

Amy

Yoga Mat Spray with Essential Oils

If you follow me on instagram @thesavvyoiler, you may have seen my “flipagram,” video where I showed how to make your own yoga mat spray with Young Living Essential Oils.  It is really easy and actually fun to do!  I love making my own everyday household cleaning products, because I know what is going in them.  This spray is ALL-NATURAL and CHEMICAL-FREE!  You will also find making your own will save you LOTS of money!

For more information on cleaning with Young Living Essential Oils, check out my post, “Spring Cleaning with Essential Oils.”  For more information on how you can SAVE money with Young Living Essential Oils, check out my post, “How to SAVE Money with Essential Oils.”

Yoga Mat Spray

What you need –

  • 1 2 oz. spray bottle – I always suggest using dark glass bottles.  Plastic bottles can sometimes leach chemicals, especially if you’re using citrus oils.  Also, dark bottles are preferred, because they help protect the essential oil.
  • 1 funnel – I only had a plastic one to use for this recipe, but I only used it for adding the distilled water.
  • Witch Hazel
  • Melaleuca Alternifolia also known as Tea Tree essential oil
  • Lavender essential oil
  • 1 Small towel

Why Melaleuca (Tea Tree) oil?

Melaleuca Alternifolia (Tea Tree) oil is a very powerful essential oil known for promoting cleansing and purity.*  It can be found in many of Young Living’s beauty products, because of its refreshing properties.*  It is a very gentle oil, even for sensitive skin.

Why Lavender oil?

Lavender oil has a sweet floral aroma which makes it a wonderful addition to many cleaning recipes.  Lavender being one of the most versatile and gentle of the essential oils can also be used for cleaning and purifying.*

How to Make Yoga Mat Spray

  1. Using a glass spray bottle and funnel, fill the spray bottle 3/4 of the way with distilled water
  2. Fill the remaining bottle with Witch Hazel leaving a little room
  3. Add 15 drops of Melaleuca (Tea Tree) oil to the spray bottle very carefully or with a glass dropper
  4. Add 10 drops of Lavender oil to the spray bottle very carefully or with a glass dropper
  5. Attach the sprayer back onto the bottle and shake well and gently
  6. Spray yoga mat thoroughly
  7. Wipe down with a small towel
  8. Enjoy your clean yoga mat and its lovely aroma!

Check out my April Essential Rewards – FREE FOR APRIL '15

Cardamom

Cardamom essential oil is a new one I am adding to our collection.  It is known for protecting and supporting the stomach and digestive system.*  It also can alleviate occasional fatigue and nervousness.*

Hope

Hope is another new essential oil for my family.  I love the oils in this blend.  It has a base of Almond oil, Melissa, Myrrh, Juniper and Spruce.  These oils combined create feelings of strength, joy, positivity, grounding and most importantly, “hope.”

Lemon

We are stocking up on Lemon essential oil!  We use this in our, “DIY Spring Essential Oil Roll-On,” along with Lavender and Peppermint essential oils.

Patchouli

Patchouli can be found in some of our favorites, such as, Peace & Calming and DiGize essential oil blends and in the Animal Scents Ointment.

Young Living states, Patchouli is sometimes called, “the scent of the sixties,” because of its musky, earthy and exotic aroma.  Its aroma may not appeal to some, but the oil has many benefits many people do not know about.  One benefit is it can soothe dry skin and reduce the appearance of wrinkles.*  It is also known to support the digestive system and ease nausea.*  See how you can use Patchouli in a diffuser blend for sleep on my post, “8 BEST Diffuser Blends for Sleep!

Thyme

Thyme is one of the most powerful antioxidants known.*  It supports the immune, respiratory, digestive, nervous and other body systems.*

Thieves Household Cleaner

I ordered the biggest bottle available this month!  We are still trying to rid our house of winter and we are freshening things up for spring and summer.  Thieves Household Cleaner is an ALL-PURPOSE cleaner that is ALL-NATURAL, SAFE, HIGHLY EFFECTIVE and VERY AFFORDABLE. To see how we use Thieves Household Cleaner, check out my post, “Spring Cleaning with Essential Oils!.”

Cinnamint and Lavender Lip Balms

I absolutely LOVE the Young Living Lip Balms.  I am not sure which one is my favorite, because they are all equally wonderful.  If you are looking for an ALL-NATURAL alternative for soothing chapped lips, I would definitely recommend these.*

Lavender

Lavender was a FREEBIE this month for the, “April 2015 Young Living Promotion.”  You can ALWAYS use a bottle of Lavender!  Some of our favorite uses for this versatile oil are in a bath with Epsom Salts for relaxation and for easing tense muscles, in the diffuser for sleep, to soothe skin and in our, “DIY Spring Essential Oil Roll-On.”*

Wintergreen

Wintergreen was another FREEBIE this month for the, “April 2015 Young Living Promotion.”  We have been wanting to try Wintergreen on its own for awhile now and this was a perfect opportunity.  Wintergreen is in PanAway, one of our favorite essential oil blends.  PanAway is in the Everyday Oil Collection in the Premium Starter Kit, because it is something you could literally use everyday.  It is the perfect oil for stressed muscles, joints and ligaments.*  When it is massaged on the location of need with a carrier oil, the soothing benefits of this oil are amazing.*  The Wintergreen combined with Peppermint essential oil are what make the cooling sensation.

Thieves Spray

A 3-pack of Thieves Spray was also a FREEBIE this month for, “April 2015 Young Living Promotion.”  These are great to take on-the-go, especially when traveling.  This spray contains pure grain alcohol, deionized water, Thieves essential oil blend, fractionated coconut oil and soy lecithin.  You can quickly clean just about everything with these little handy bottles!  They are perfect for shopping carts, toilet seats, door handles and more!

Peace & Calming and Valor

I purchased Peace & Calming and Valor this month with my accrued Essential Rewards points.  We were notified these oils were going to be out-of-stock temporarily, so I wanted to stock up!  These 2 oils are some of Young Living’s “top-selling” oils.  Due to weather conditions, the botanicals needed to make these essential oils were not up to Young Living’s high quality standard.  This is one great reason why I love Young Living.  They want to provide only the BEST, so we will wait patiently for a better harvest this year!  If you missed out on grabbing these before they went out-of-stock, there are other great alternatives!  An alternative for Peace & Calming is Gathering essential oil blend and alternatives for Valor are Magnify Your Purpose, Envision and Inspiration essential oil blends.

Copaiba

Copaiba I also added on to my Essential Rewards points order.  Copaiba is best known for supporting the body’s natural response to injury or irritation.*  It can also help support the digestive system.*

This sums up my April Essential Rewards order!  It was a BIG one this month!  If you have any questions or are interested in learning more about Young Living Essential Oils, send me a message by clicking on, contact me.

Thank you!

DIY Lavender Linen Spray

One reason I love Young Living Essential Oils so much:  They are so versatile!  Once you start getting comfortable with oils, you will want to use them for EVERYTHING!  It feels great to get rid of my store bought products and make my own.  It can be really fun too!  The best part though is with DIY products – you KNOW what is going in them!  I know with Young Living’s “Seed to Seal” process, I am using 100% pure therapeutic-grade essential oils.  I trust using them on myself and my whole family.

Check out my DIY Lavender Linen Spray –

DIY Lavender spray

First, I add 15-20 drops of Lavender essential oil to a 4 oz. glass bottle purchased from Abundant Health.  For this particular spray, you do not need a glass bottle, because Lavender is not a citrus oil.  Citrus oils are known to breakdown plastics.  I prefer to use glass for most of my DIY items, but that is completely up to you.

This recipe can be tweaked to “make it your own.”  It is important to add a pinch of Epsom Salt, because it helps to disperse the oil into the water.  Since oil repels water, if you don’t add the Epsom Salt, it will just stay clumped together in one place.

After the Lavender essential oil and Epsom Salt, just fill the rest with distilled or purified water, shake well and spray!   It really is as simple as that!  I spray the mixture over my sheets and pillow right before bedtime.

Why Lavender?

Lavender essential oil will freshen your linens, promote relaxation and restful sleep!  Lavender is a very gentle oil and can be used on the whole family.

Since Lavender is so versatile, it is included in the Everyday Oils Collection of the Premium Starter Kit.  It is an important one to have on hand at all times!  Its uses are endless.  Click on Premium Starter Kit to learn more.

If you have any questions, feel free to contact me at any time.  I would love to hear from you and have you join me on this oil journey!

Thank you,

Amy

8 BEST Diffuser Blends for Sleep!

Many people wrestle with restlessness and yearn for a peaceful night’s sleep.  I am one of those people!  Like many, I feel like crashing in the afternoon every single day, but as soon as I hit the bed at night, I am WIDE awake.  Who can relate?!  One of the many reasons I was excited to venture into using essential oils was to find a natural solution for sleep!  There are many Young Living Essential Oils to aid with occasional sleeplessness.*  They can be used aromatically, topically and as a dietary supplement.*  Here I will explain what oils I use aromatically in a diffuser!  These are just some of my favorites.  What is so fun about essential oils is you can keep experimenting until you find what works best for you!

Check out my diffuser blends for sleep

diffuser for sleep

What is RutaVala Essential Oil?

RutaVala is an essential oil blend made with Ruta, Lavender and Valerian essential oils.  It is great for relaxing the mind and body and promoting sleep.*  Diffused an hour before bedtime RutaVala can help ease any tension or stress.*  What makes RutaVala more unique than the other oils used for sleep?  It is already formulated and blended for you!  Not only that, the refreshing scent is lovely!  Many people even use it topically in Young Living’s Roll-On for an added effect or just as an everyday perfume.

Lavender and Peace & Calming

This is my favorite blend to use for bedtime.  We sometimes diffuse both Lavender and Peace & Calming together or diffuse them individually as well.  In almost all of these blends, you will see Lavender essential oil.   In past blog posts, I have talked about Lavender being the “Swiss Army Knife” of essential oils, because you can literally use it for almost everything.   Its most common use is for relaxation and sleep.*  If you use “true” Lavender, such as Young Living’s Lavender Essential Oil, you will safely experience the real benefits of this oil.*  To learn more about 100% pure, therapeutic-grade essential oils, check out my page – Why Choose Young Living?

Peace & Calming is an essential oil blend made with Tangerine, Orange, Ylang Ylang and Patchouli.  Peace & Calming has been a favorite in my house since my daughter was born.  As you know, infants can wake up numerous times a night.  Once we started using Peace & Calming, our nights have been way more peaceful.*  This blend alone made us essential oil believers.

Lavender and Bergamot

We know Lavender is great for relaxing the mind and body, but why add Bergamot?  It is used for hormonal support and adds a sweet citrus scent to the diffuser blend.  Citrus oils can aid in relaxation as well,  but they are excellent for uplifting moods!*  This blend can help you go to sleep with a smile on your face.  😉

Frankincense and Vetiver

This blend is a personal favorite of mine.  I use Frankincense daily in my diffuser necklace.  Check out my blog post – Essential Oil Diffuser Necklace.  Frankincense helps me with everyday stress and tension.*  It can be used for so many other things, but for me, this is one of my favorites for that reason.  I also love the stimulating aroma!

Many people use Vetiver aromatically and topically.  According to Dr. Terry Friedmann, “this oil is one of the highest in sesquiterpenes and can be used to improve children’s behavior.”*  “It is psychologically grounding, calming and stabilizing.”*  On a side note, this oil is VERY thick, so do not be alarmed if you have never used it before.  Sometimes adding a glass dropper to the bottle can make it easier for application.

So why these two together?  It is just another option when I feel like changing things up.  Like I said, I use Frankincense daily already, so as I sleep it is an added bonus.  These oils work well together and have a fantastic aroma when combined.

Lavender, Cedarwood, Peace & Calming

Sometimes we add Cedarwood to the diffuser blend of Lavender and Peace & Calming.  Why Cedarwood?  It can add a different aroma to the mix.  It has an outdoor, woodsy aroma.  It is also known for its soothing and calming abilities when massaged topically with a carrier oil to the skin.*  If it relaxes the body when used topically, it more than likely will relax the body when used aromatically.*  Like I said, it’s all about experimentation with different combinations.

Lavender, Roman Chamomile and Vetiver

We now know Lavender and Vetiver are used for calming the mind and body and aiding in sleep.*  Why add Roman Chamomile?  Because, this is one of the most gentle of the essential oils and it is great for small children along with the oils, Lavender and Vetiver.  This is a combination we would diffuse in our kids room for a restful nights sleep.*

Lavender, Vetiver, Valerian and Orange

Valerian is an essential oil in the RutaVala blend.  According to Young Living, “Valerian has been clinically investigated for its relaxing properties.  Researchers have pinpointed the sesquiterpenes, valerenic acid and valerone as the active constitutes that exert a calming and restorative effect on the central nervous system.”*

Orange is one of my favorite citrus oils.  It is also a relaxant, but its citrus aroma also can uplift spirits and moods.*  It can help the mind feel at peace and bring about a sense of happiness.*  It is in the Peace & Calming blend as well.  More importantly, it contains the powerful antioxidant d-limonene, which can assist in maintaining a healthy immune system.*

Lavender, Bergamot, Patchouli and Ylang Ylang

This combination is very similar to the Lavender and Peace & Calming diffuser blend, but with the added benefit of Bergamot.  Patchouli and Ylang Ylang are a few of the oils in Peace & Calming.  Bergamot gives this blend the citrus kick for uplifting moods, but also the extra relaxation properties for a better nights rest.

I realize many of these diffuser blends are similar, but sometimes the slight change in a recipe can make a difference in how you feel.  Keep trying until you find something that works for you!

Merry Christmas to us!  Check out what was left for us near our front door this December.  Our Young Living monthly order!  Click on Essential Rewards (ER) to learn more!

What did we receive this month?

Thieves Dentarome Ultra Toothpaste

This is the first time we have ordered Thieves Toothpaste.  It is great if you are looking for an all-natural alternative.  It gently cleans, whitens your teeth and freshens your breath with the power of pure, therapeutic-grade essential oils.*  The toothpaste contains Peppermint, Clove, Cinnamon Bark, Lemon, Eucalyptus Radiata and Rosemary essential oils.  It is perfect paired with the Thieves Fresh Essence Mouthwash!

Thieves Household Cleaner

This stuff is the best!  No more cleaners with toxins and chemicals – Thieves Household Cleaner is your all-in-one!  Also, it is in a 100% recyclable bottle as a nice bonus!

Thieves Essential Oil

We included Thieves in our December order to stock up for the upcoming winter!  If you could pick just one oil to have on hand at all times, I would suggest Thieves!  It is a blend specifically made to support a healthy immune system.  Young Living carries many products made with Thieves essential oil, such as, Thieves Toothpaste and Thieves Household Cleaner (both mentioned above), Thieves Spray, Wipes, Lozenges and Mouthwash. Click on Thieves Fresh Essence Mouthwash to read my blog post about this amazing product!

Lavender Essential Oil

We use Lavender for so many things.  I hear constantly that it is the, “Swiss Army Knife,” of essential oils or that, “no home should be without it,” which is totally the truth!  Most people are familiar with the lovely aroma of Lavender, but to experience 100% pure, therapeutic-grade Lavender essential oil is completely different!  It’s fresh and sweet aroma can be soothing and refreshing to the mind and body.*  It can assist the body in adapting to everyday stress.*  It is a great aid for relaxing, especially before bedtime.*  We can attest to that!  We love taking Lavender and Epsom Salt baths to help us unwind.  It can also help increase stamina and energy too!*  It is highly regarded for skin and beauty and is used frequently to sooth and cleanse the skin.*  Love, Love Lavender essential oil!

Valor Essential Oil

As I stated in, “My November Essential Rewards,” blog post, Valor is back in stock!  Of course, we had to order another bottle in December to replenish our personal supply.  Valor is a unique essential oil blend commonly used to encourage grounding and confidence.*

Deep Relief Roll-On

Deep Relief is an oil blend made up of Peppermint, Lemon, Idaho Balsam Fir, Copaiba, Clove, Wintergreen, Vetiver and Palo Santo essential oils.  I never leave home without it!  It is great for the occasional everyday aches.  The roll-on bottle makes it convenient to use, because you just apply it right on location and no dilution is required.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at any time.  Click on Essential Rewards to learn more about Young Living’s auto-ship program.  Click on order oils to begin your oil journey or on the graphic below.
