Essential Oils make the PERFECT Father’s Day gift!

Fathers Day tie

It’s not too late to get the perfect Father’s Day gift!  If you are still on the fence as to what to get the special man in your life this Father’s Day, look no further!  Essential oils make the perfect gift for anyone!  You may be thinking….”Why would they want essential oils?” “There’s no way my husband or father would use essential oils?”  Well, I am first to tell you, they will and they will LOVE them!  When I first began my oil journey, my husband was definitely a skeptic.  I think it’s safe to say, he now uses them more than anyone in the house!  He even has his own personal bag he takes with him on a daily basis.  Check out some essential oil gift suggestions below along with some DIY oil gifts for the Father in your life.  This will be the year they will thank you for not getting them another tie, t-shirt, coffee mug or picture frame! 😉

Father's Day

As you can see in the graphic above, Young Living offers some great suggestions for Father’s Day!  These include:  PanAway, Stress-Away, Brain Power, Idaho Blue Spruce, Idaho Balsam Fir and DIY options, which includes, Cedarwood and Vetiver (for a bath and shower gel) and Tea Tree and Eucalyptus Radiata (for a beard oil).  These are amazing suggestions and I know anyone could benefit from these oils.

Other Gift Suggestions

Shutran Essential Oil

As you may have seen in my post, “My June Essential Rewards,” I discussed how I purchased Shutran this month to give my husband for Father’s Day.  Shutran was introduced at the Young Living convention in 2014.  It is an oil blend specifically made for men and has since become a favorite!  This year it was perfected even more when Young Living decided to reformulate it.  It now contains Black Spruce and an increased amount of Idaho Blue Spruce by 45 percent, as well as increased amounts of Ylang Ylang and Lavender.

What is Shutran?

Surprisingly, Shutran is the new cologne for men!  The aroma is fantastic for both men and women alike.  This cologne you won’t have to worry about any harmful ingredients, because it is made with 100% pure essential oils.  The best part?  This cologne comes with the ability to support a healthy body!*  All of us at some point or another have experienced that “slump” in the middle of the day where a nap seems really desirable.  Shutran can come to the rescue!  This is one the men will be taking with them to work!  After just a few dabs directly to the wrists, it can increase alertness to the mind and body while boosting masculinity and confidence.*

Deep Relief Essential Oil

I added this one as a suggestion, because this is my husband’s personal favorite.  We each have our own bottle and it goes with us everywhere.  It is a very popular blend and in high demand!  Unfortunately, it is currently out-of-stock, but keep it in mind for that next Young Living order!

What is Deep Relief?

It is a blend of Peppermint, Lemon, Balsam Canada, Clove, Balsam Copaiba, Coconut, Wintergreen, Vetiver and Dorado Azul oils.  It comes in a convenient 10 ml roll-on bottle ready for use.  I do have to add, Young Living recently updated their packaging for their roll-on blends and they are pretty impressive!  Beyond the packaging though, this oil is a must-have for anyone!  It is perfect rolled-on to parts of the body after exercise or any other activity.* It’s scent alone is invigorating and energizing.*  We like to apply it to our temples, neck and forehead for the best Deep Relief.

Lavender Essential Oil

Lavender is great for Fathers and everyone else!  Some of my husband’s favorite uses for Lavender are in the bath with Epsom salts for relaxation and in the diffuser for a peaceful nights sleep.*  My Dad also uses it in the diffuser on a nightly basis and loves it so much, he asked why they can’t make a BIGGER diffuser for it to run all night!  Haha!  A bigger diffuser sounds nice, but isn’t necessary, because Young Living’s diffusers cover approximately 1000 square feet and a little oil goes a long way!  You only need a few drops to experience the benefits!*

What is Lavender?

Lavender essential oil is steam distilled from the flowering top.  For a Young Living 15 ml bottle of Lavender essential oil, it takes 27 square feet of Lavender plants!  Isn’t that incredible?!  I love how much care is taken for each bottle of essential oil.  This is one of the many reasons why I love Young Living so much.  Their process is detailed for us to understand and to experience firsthand, so we know we are receiving the best quality.  For more information on their process, click on Seed to Seal.

As I mentioned above, Lavender is wonderful added in the bath for relaxation and diffused for winding down before bedtime.*  It can also be applied topically to help with everyday stress and tension.*  Also, it helps to support a healthy respiratory system and healthy skin.*  It is the most gentle of the essential oils, which makes it useful for the whole family!

Mister Essential Oil

The name alone implies this oil was formulated with men in mind.  We have not tried this oil yet, but have heard it is a beneficial for most men thirty and over.  Mister is a blend of Sage, Fennel, Lavender, Myrtle, Peppermint and Blue Yarrow in a base of sesame oil.  It helps to soothe everyday stress and promote greater inner-body balance.*

Oola Essential Oils

The OolaGuys have partnered with Young Living to create essential oil blends for seven key areas in our lives where we need balance and growth to achieve richness and fulfillment.  These seven blends are called:  Fitness, Finance, Family, Field (career), Faith, Friends and Fun.  They can be purchased altogether in the “Infused 7,” kit or they can be bought individually.  For more information on this kit and to see why these oils would make a perfect gift, click on Infused 7.

Diy Oil Gifts

Since Father’s Day is already next week, maybe you have essential oils to work with and do a DIY gift for the man in your life this Father’s Day.  Below are some personal favorite recipes I would like to share.

Beard-Softening Oil

‘Tis the season for beards!  It was common to see beards more around winter time, but now they are stylish ALL year around, especially during hockey season!  I know my husband and Dad are sporting one right now!  There are many different recipes for a Beard-Softening Oil, but here is one to try below:

In a 2 oz. glass bottle, add the following:
10 Drops of Bergamot Essential Oil
5 Drops of Patchouli Essential Oil
3 Drops of Cedarwood Essential Oil
Top off with Young Living’s V-6 Oil Complex

Sleepy-Time Blend

Let’s face it, being a parent, you come to LOVE sleep!  Sometimes after a long day of work, you hit the bed and cannot fall asleep!  I know my husband experiences this quite frequently.  Here is an essential oil blend for a peaceful nights rest that you may have seen in my post, “Reusing Essential Oil Bottles.”  Check it out:

In a 2 oz. glass bottle, add the following:
12 Drops of Lavender Essential Oil
12 Drops of Peace & Calming Essential Oil
12 Drops of Cedarwood Essential Oil
Top off with Young Living’s V-6 Oil Complex
Attach a roller fitment for easier use

I hope this information was helpful!  Remember, these are just suggestions, there are many more options!  Also, the recipes can be tweaked to your liking or you could create your own!  I would love to hear what recipes you have come up with!  Feel free to share them in the comments of this post.

Essential Oils for Traveling

Since we began using Young Living essential oils, we never leave home without them.  Whether we are going to work, school, a play-date, park, store or restaurant, we have our little on-the-go oil bag with us (see image below).  We usually just have a few of the essentials.   When we are traveling out of town, it is a whole different story!

My On-The-Go Oil Bag

Thank you North Texas Excess Baggage Company

This fall we are preparing for a much-needed family vacation!  As much as I would like to bring my whole essential oil collection, I know it’s not realistic.  So, included in our vacation checklist is a list of our first priority oils.  In this post, I am going to share with you what oils we are packing, why and how we use them.

As you can see from the graphic, we have planned on bringing every oil in the Premium Starter Kit.  Crazy?  Not at all!  They call these “Everyday Oils” for a reason!  From supporting a healthy immune system, skin, relaxation and everyday aches, these oils have my family covered!  I added a few extras on our checklist that we love too.

There are many resources available to teach you about all of Young Living’s essential oils.  If you are interested, I can get you connected to even more!  Contact me for further information.

Deep Relief

This oil blend is not in the Premium Starter Kit, but it is a fantastic one to purchase!  I actually tried it for the first time, because we received it FREE one month in our Essential Rewards (ER) order.  Want to know how to receive your own FREE oils,  click on Essential Rewards to learn more!

We use Deep Relief almost daily in my house.  My husband uses it for everyday aches and I use it for menstrual cramps.

It comes in a 10 ml slim bottle with a roll-on for easy application!  No dilution required.  It is convenient enough to just throw in your pocket or purse when you’re on the go!

DiGize goes everywhere with us on an average day, so of course we are taking it along for vacation!  It is not in the Premium Starter Kit, but definitely one we want at all times!  Someone recommended it to us for my son’s tummy shortly after we were introduced to Young Living.  It has helped us all with supporting healthy digestive function.

We don’t normally carry Frankincense with us on a daily basis, but being that we will be away from home and staying multiple nights, it is on the checklist.  I know Frankincense can be used for a variety of different things from relaxation, skin and supporting healthy lung and sinus function, but so far I have enjoyed using it daily on my skin for my complexion.

Joy is normally not included in my on-the-go bag, but I will definitely be bringing it on vacation.  Check out my blog post, “My Morning Routine with Essential Oils,” to see why I love Joy.

Joy essential oil is literally, “Joy,” in a bottle!  It is great for uplifting moods!   I’ve read some testimonials about people who have traded their perfumes/colognes for Joy.  Who wouldn’t love a natural perfume/cologne without the harmful chemicals and toxins and at the same time makes you feel good too?

It is called, “The Swiss Army Knife of Essential Oils,” because you can use it for almost everything!  If I could take just a few oils, Lavender would be one of my picks.  We use it daily for everyday stress, but it’s also our go-to for our skin!  We love to diffuse Lavender, massage it on our Vita Flex points, mix it with Epsom salts in a warm bath or just apply directly where it’s needed.

We primarily use Lemon for it’s antioxidant properties.  Overall, it is great at supporting a healthy immune system.  If you love the flavoring of Lemon, put a drop in your morning water!

PanAway is great for everyday aches or for sore muscles after exercise.  It is best diluted with a carrier oil and applied directly on location or on the Vita Flex points.

Peace & Calming

It was one of the first oils we tried in our Premium Starter Kit.  We knew we were going to try it on our baby who still wasn’t sleeping through the night.  It didn’t take long for us to notice it was working for her!  The whole family sleeps better with Peace & Calming.  It’s a great oil to use for everyday stress too.  Sometimes we diffuse it near bedtime and/or massage onto the bottoms of our feet.

Peppermint goes with us EVERYWHERE!  We use Peppermint for digestive support, energy and more!  It can be diluted in a vegetable capsule or used in a beverage or dish!

We always carry Purification with us.  This is a good one for skin and for supporting a healthy immune system.  Also, we have family pets and we use Purification to make our own air freshener to dispel odors.

We use this to support healthy lung and sinus function.  Hopefully, we won’t have to use this on vacation, but it’s best to be prepared!  It can be diffused or inhaled directly from the bottle.  We like to dilute it with a carrier oil and rub it on our chests, necks, backs and Vita Flex points.

Come read about Stress-Away in my blog post, “My Morning Routine with Essential Oils.”  The oil name, “Stress-Away,” says enough!  I realize vacations are supposed to be relaxing, but sometimes when you get home from vacation, don’t you feel like you need another?  I know I do!  Especially, when we go to Disney!

By now, you know Thieves is the oil you should have with you or stocked up at ALL times.  I’ve mentioned Thieves in many of my blog posts.  It is what helps us maintain a healthy immune system and gets us through the fall and winter months!

Valor is great for a back massage and used for grounding and everyday stress.  Valor can be massaged onto the body.  It can also be applied to the Vita Flex Points.
